1. Indication
Treats high blood pressure.
2. Instruction to use (How is this drug best taken)
- Take your medicine as directed.
- Missed dose: Take a dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and take a regular dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose
- Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
3. Drug-Drug Interaction:
- Do not use this medicine together with verapamil.
- Some medicines can affect how labetalol works. Tell your doctor if you are also using cimetidine, digoxin, nitroglycerin, or other blood pressure medicine (including calcium channel blockers).
4. Side effects
May include: nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and tingling scalp.
5. Precautions
- Do not stop using this medicine suddenly without asking your doctor
- Tell patient to report symptoms of hypotension.
- Instruct patient who has diabetes or who is fasting (ie, surgery, not eating regularly, or vomiting) to monitor for symptoms of hypoglycemia and report difficulties with glycemic control.
- Advise patient against sudden discontinuation of drug.
